Thanks everyone for their input. I believe my production date is 05/04. What is FTM? Generally I'm good with acronyms, but not sure if it means "flat tire monitor"?

I am on E60 number three. First two had run flats. I loved the safety factor. New E60 has non-run flats. The difference in performance (much more of), noise (lack of), grip (much more of), tram lining (none of), comfort (much more of), etc etc just blows me away. Putting run flats on an E60 may make it a bit safer, but my god does it completely destroy everything that is good about the car. I will never, ever, use run flats again. Puncture? Push my SOS button and wait for BMW Assist to come and fix it for me! I have the guys on this forum to thank for talking me in to upgrading my wheels from 18" RF to 19" Non-RF and I am forever in their debt!

Thanks again for the input.
Is it doable/safe to install non run flat tires on the rims that came with the RF. My SA said he's seen people do it before, but it runs a chance of the tire possibly coming off. He mentioned something with the way the RF seals to the edge of the rim (he called it the beading), and it's not as tight or sealed when running a non RF tire on the RF rims. I didn't know there was a difference..
Is he BS'ing me or is there some truth to that?

That may have been the case then, but it isn't true anymore. RFTs can be mounted on any rims. Read : http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/tires/art...88/article.html
Now, the PAX system by Michelin on the other hand does require special rims as far as I understand (I could be wrong here)
