My Ride: 545i - ordered in January delivered April 21st! Black Sapphire Metallic, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple.
Thumbs up

Does anyone have a picture of the tread pattern? or know where the directional locator is on the tire? I have RF's - Dunlop - from looking at it, it looks like you can rotate from side to side?
I do have the sport package.

Here is the front passenger tire looking from the front of the car to the rear.

Yes, the Dunlop runflats can be interchanged side-to-side since they are asymmetric but not directional. You only have to pay attention to the sidewall where it says "outside"...

edit: I seem to remember someone once telling me it's not a good idea to rotate tires side-to-side unless they're remounted on the wheel so they maintain the same directional rotation (even if the tire isn't a directional tire.)

Since the Dunlops have a clear "outside" marking, the only way to rotate them side-to-side is if you violate this rule. Does anyone have any better confirmation on whether or not this rotation rule applies?

edit 2: Here's some rotation information from the Tire Rack that seems to cover all the possibilities:

Tires that have directional sanctions always have big arrows on the side.

The Dunlop DSST tires do not.

They are crap anyway. Go for Continental or Michelin non RF's!

You are correct - you can rotate them - no way you will get the same tread pattern at each corner. For those that can't picture it (sorry) - I took two pictures (exact same result).
Thanks

Just put the ones with more tread rear!

Edit:
Hmm, you seem to have 275's rear and 245's front -
just forget my comment.

Wait a minute these are not directional tires?

Note: No I have not tried to look for the big arrow yet.

All tires are marked when it makes a difference but a general rule is the tread pattern and the direction of rotation should help facilitate water evacuation from the middle of the tread to the outside of the tread.
example- )))))) tread pattern as viewed from the top view should roll >>> because the center of the pattern hits the ground first and pushes the water to the outside of the tire as the tire rotates and hit the rest of the pattern with the edge hitting the ground last.
