I have electrochromic side mirrors. They are getting darker and the driver side started bubbling. I drained the liquid, but the mirror is not clear and humidity gets between the glasses.
I was thinking I could just change the mirror but the electrochromic option is just too expensive. The dealer told me that you could not replace the glass only and the entire mirror housing needed to be changed.
I took it apart and it seems very easy to just replace the mirror itself. Today I found that getbmwparts.com has a mirror only solution under
BODY HARDWARE / FRONT DOOR / OUTSIDE MIRRORS / Mirror glass
mirror glass W/O ELECTROCHROMIC
Anyone sees a reason why this could not work?

That is a big difference in price. The other question is how much do you lose the auto dim.I've driven cars without it and it's really annoying, I don't know how much the blue tinted glass will help this tho.
