swapping LM pins for lci light retrofit

however the bmw install pdf guide says all cars should swap pins.
am i reading something wrong? do all cars have to swap these pins, or cars before 3/05?
The Important Key to this Conversion is for Pre 3/2005 built E60's have to swap pins in the Light Module or els AE will not light up correctly.... That's the Key to your answer.
Re-Pin the LM for AE to work properly (Pre 3/2005 built E60)
- pin 25, GR/GN, to pin 63
- pin 40, GR/BL, to pin 11
