My dealer are offering me a straight swap of my 530d for a 530i of the same year (05) and same spec due to the issues I have been having my with diesel.

Anyone got any opinions on this? I have never driven the petrol version, so do people think i'll be disappointed or elated at the swap?

I bet 530i is a great ride, but I guess you would miss the torque ...

It's good your dealer is working with you. What's the relative value of the two cars?

you will miss the torque for sure, I would personally say you need at least a 540 to be on a par for smiles per miles, not that the 530i is bad, just the 530d so good.

Every time I pull away the car will move off about 5 yards before it shifts into 1st, its annoying and dangerous.

Unless i am accelerating the gearbox seems to disengage the drive, so when I then accelerate again there is a clunk as it engages again.

I think theres a software update that cures this

Really sad that we haven't this option
