Anyone experienced a sunroof that refuses to stay closed?

Tried closing the sunroof today before starting a drive. Pushing or clicking the button caused the sunroof to close, then reopen about halfway. It did this 20+ times until I gave up. We drove for 20mintes, and then it finally worked with 1 press of the button (while moving). It did this a couple of days ago too, but closed after 2-3 tries. The car is like a week old, 2006 525.

Anyone seen this? Looks like the anti-trap is triggering for some reason.. maybe heat causing seals to swell? The car was real hot sitting in the sun on my drive (100F here in L.A. today) while it was failing to close. I figure it cooled down considerably while driving and therefore closed without triggering anti-trap...???!?!?

Will call the dealer in the week, but no messing the sunroof until then!

I recently had the opposite problem on my 740i. When I tried to open it, it would close right back up.

Turns out the sunroof was out of alignment and it just took a few adjustments by the dealer to set it back. No problems since then.

Not sure if this will solve the problem but you might want to try re-initializing the sunroof by following these directions: https://5series.net/forums/index.php...image&img=5448

The anti-trapping function might be out of calibration or something similar...

Had the same but it was snowing so it's nothing to do with the heat. Went in and has been fine since but I don't know what they did other than upgrade the software.
Cheers

Thanks for that Rudy
I applied the procedure which went as advertised. I'll post again in a couple of weekends with results...

Hello,

I think I have the same problem on my E61.
When I try to close the roof from the tilted position, it closes but immediately opens again into the tilted position.
After trying to close it for a lot of times it is finally closed but now I don't dare to open it again.

I would like to try to initialize it again but your link does not work anymore. Can you post this procedure again please?

Other solutions or comments or off course also very welcome!

Thank you,

Dino
