I've noticed on both E60's that I've owned (2006 528i & 2009 535i....) that when the inside sunroof closure is opened, I can hear more wind / road noise inside the car....Just wondering if anyone is familiar with a tech bulletin or any dealerrship involvement with replacing the sunroof gasket...I'm preparing to start a ton of mods on the car, and was wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same scenario.....

I notice the same thing with my car the other day too. Had the sunroof opened, then closed it and the visor part was still open and I kept hearing road noise. I reached back and pulled the visor completed close and the noise went away. So will a new seal kit solve this or is it a trait known with the sunroof visor being opened? If it does, then 40bucks is well worth spending.

It's definitely the sunroof seal. I replaced mine recently and fixed the noise.
BE WARNED THOUGH!!!! A bad sunroof seal is not only noisy, but it can also let in more water than the drains can handle, and flood your headliner. I had this happen at a car wash.

Thanks for all the information; I'm sure I'll be replacing the seal this Spring.....

I just purchased a replacement seal online for around $35, and installed it myself this weekend. The reduction in noise coming from the sunroof is now greatly reduced and I can actually drive around with the shade open now!
