Logic 7 is a must, the stock system is cr*p for this price range. Second on my list for a "preferred" but not a must have would be Sirius Sat Radio, I love having it, it's pretty much all I listen to. As far as the folding seats I would pass on that, I think they can develop rattles, if you want the folding seats for a ski pass through I would look at the ski rack for the e60 in the accessory catalog, they make a nice one for this car. Good luck with your choices.

I'm not a music man, most of the time I drive without the radio on. To me, the number one thing is the comfort seats. You will get them if you go sport, but if you decide against sport, get them anyway.

I'm getting closer to placing an order to lease a new 5 series - I'm sure a topic like this is posted about once a week...so I apologize. I'm looking for feedback from those of you who own or have driven the i and ix...this is driving me nuts but I'm leaning towards the xi...I drove it a couple times, solid handling. I'm in upstate NY where I see snow 4+ months a year. I've had a couple RWD BMW's with snow, a little scary at times but I survived.

Options that I will get: Premium, SP, CWP, fold-down rears

Options on the bubble:
1) Sport wheels - they look so much better than the 17's but I'm concerned with all the RFT issues; I'd throw on 4 snows/rims from Tirerack for winter. Anyone own or drive the xi with these wheels...to harsh, better handling, loud??
2) i-Pod, sat radio, Logic 7
3) Comfort access, PDC
4) black headliner...I think the gray is standard which may look lousy with natural brown (platinum gray ext)

Any real-world experience on these choices would be greatly appreciated...Ive learned a ton from this forum - it's addicting!
Logic 7 and anything better than the stock wheels and run flats

Cheers

Thanks - do you mean stay away from the RFT's?...I believe they're my only choice if I opt for the 18" SP set-up. If they offered all-seasons with the 18" for $600 it would be a no-brainer for me.

People don't like the RFTs but the sport pack is worth it.

Try to get an all season set or better yet a performsnce tire.Do you need snow tires where you drive ? RF are hard and don't give you great road feel

If I opt for the 18"'s, my plan would be to run the RFT's in the summer and put 4 winter tire/wheels on for the snow (I'm in upstate NY). With the xi I'm sure I could get by with the standard 17" with all-seasons, but to me the 18" wheels look so much better. I just don't know if I want performance tires, yet along RFT's.
Thanks

Performance tires on the 18s and a good set of mounted winters and you're covered . This way you get optimal driving/performance and functionality. Plus the mileage on your winters obviously extends the life of the summer set up.

Good luck

Sport package is a must if you want a tighter ride that is a bit harsher, but much sportier. I wouldn't want a BMW any other way, but my wife tells me that not everyone thinks the way I do.

If you don't get the Sport Package, at least get the comfort seats--they are unbelievable.

I went for the Logic 7 on my '08 and can never go back to the factory stereo again. It has amazing sound quality and power.

IPod adapter is a must if you have an Ipod. It has some very minor wrinkles to iron out, but 95% perfect.

I'm also a fan of the premium package, but others here thoughtfully disagree.

Cold weather package is a must if you live in the cold, just for the bun warmers.

I debated the comfort access, and didn't get it, but on occasion I wish I had it.

Good luck.

OK- here's where I stand:
- 535xi, platinum gray with natural brown
- Premium, CW and SP
- 18" wheels with perf RFT
- Fold down rear seats
- Premium sound
- anthracite headliner
- PDC
- Ipod
MSRP = $59,900...I told the dealer I would do $1,500 over invoice. He told me this value is $57,783 (includes "prep etc"); based on my math this is $3,018 over invoice. He also said MF is .00295 and R = 62% for 12K per year.
Does anyone know what current MF is?? Any other advice?
Thanks again
