Hi all!

I'm new to this forum so let me tell you a little bit about myself: My name is Henk, 21 years old, living in the Netherlands. As you would suspect I am the owner of a BMW E60, 520i, built in 2004. I bought my car just a few weeks ago, and am very pleased with the car!

Because it's starting to get warmer again, I bought some nice 19" M5 rims and Eibach Pro springs for my car. But the problem is that I just noticed a sucking noise coming from the front shock-absorber! It's only noticeable when I hit a speed-bump or when I drive on a very bumpy road.

Does this mean one of my shock absorbers is shot? If it is, should I replace all, or just the two in the front?

Thank u guys very much!

I have this same noise too - I think. I probably wouldn't describe it as a "sucking" noise though.. It seems more like a rubbery squeaking noise. Though we might be describing the same thing.

I also only hear the noise when I'm going over speed bumps (there are many of them in my work's parking deck). However my suspension and wheels are currently all stock.

It could be that we are having the same problem!

I still have stock suspension and wheels also. Still have to put all the new stuff on. But I might as well replace the shock-absorbers if they are in bad condition.

A certain amount of shock absorber noise upon deflection is normal, but if they are original, perhaps they are just about shot! How many miles are on them? How much did the Eibachs lower the car?

The Eibachs are not mounted yet, but will lower the car 1.2" (30mm).

These are the original shocks, got about 75.000 miles (120.000km) on them.

The noise is only noticeable when I have the windows open, it can't be heard with the windows closed.

I have this noise too, my car is a 2008 E60 520D with only 42K on the clock. When I go slowly over a speed bump I get a sucking / squeeking noise form the left hand side.
The handling is fine no rattles or anything just this squelching - Anyone any ideas?

Check your suspension components, probably the railing arm bushings

I think that's normal sound of shock absorbers.

There's always some sort of "air" noise from a shock when it's compressed and then rebounds to orginal position.
