My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Carbon Black

So I'm ordering new wheels for my 550i, and I'd like to know what the weights are for the OEM 172M wheels - anybody have a clue? I'd love to weigh mine, but they were stolen from the car as it was being shipped to me... ![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
I just want to make sure that the Forgestar F14's i'm ordering will actually be lighter (going with ExtremeContact DW). Thanks!

The weight listed is 29.247 lbs.
Anyone have any better detail?

Seeing as mine are still sitting here in my living room, I decided to weigh them on my bathroom scale...with wheel weights and a little dirt
Front is a tick under 35 pounds and the rear is about 37.5 pounds.

Haha - I like that they are still in your living room. My wife would throw a fit if I even had them in the house!
Damn... seems pretty heavy huh? You think the weights add that much weight or is the detail on BMWfans too conservative? Makes me want to get new wheels right away... not that I don't already but just another reason.

I must admit - I was surprised at the weight. Considering how often we hear about bent/cracked wheels, I thought they'd weigh in pretty light. Makes me wish I had weighed the Miro 111's before I put them on. Damn.

Bare rims with no tires or pressure monitors.
So, according to my scale, a front 172 weighs 35 pounds. When I put it in the box that one of the front Miro 111's came in, it weights 40 pounds. That's a 5 pound box. The shipping weight printed on the UPS label for a front Miro is 31 pounds (32 for the rear). If the box is 5 pounds, that means a front Miro 111 weighs only 26 pounds?? Nine pounds lighter than a 172? That'd be a 36 +/- pound reduction in unsprung weight overall. Hmm.
Can this be? Or should I be questioning the accuracy of my scale at lower loads?

wow, those are crazy heavy!
and i think the weight for the miros is about right - the forgestars I ordered are 23-24 front and 24-26 rear. it's amazing that for what BMW charges for a set of 172M's, they are so heavy! thanks for making my day!

Yea the 172s are bloody heavy if i haddent got my car from a main dealer i would have thought that they were fakes, i had 1 refinished and i took it off my self. and fitted my other wheels i have a tatty set if beyern mesh in 19s and they felt a lot lighter that the bmw wheels.
