Since you'll be on the road, go ahead and add Sea Foam or Techron because it may take a couple of fueling cycles to do the trick.

Did you clear all the codes after replacing the MAF? It could be an old error...

Hey all, I am new to here.. And I have an e60 that stutters very similar to Ops. Mine is auto, and sport mode seems to help a little, but it still does it.

I am surprised no one mention: Rear Flex Plate (Guibo) or the drive shaft bearing (CSB?? ) since it seems the issue is drivetrain related. I have been searching for advice and tips on mine since it does it.. But go WOT, and it never appears.

The other thing I have read and you might want to look at is torque converter lock up issues .. someone correct me here, but I personally have replaced transmissions and TQ's .. never tried to diagnose one.. usually they have all lasted the life of the car ( my personal experience.)

Happy motoring!

heey thx, yeeh my biggest concern in the beginning was the converter, but as I mentioned it turns out it’s was the MAF sensor sit that problem is solved. And we always suspected it was an electrical issue since the problem wasn’t constant but just under some circumstances.

anyway tnx and you too!

yes I did, but at the start of the road trip, like 20 min in the car said I needed to have a look at the DPF so that’s probably getting more and more clogged up.

so tomorrow when we are starting the next 500 European kilometres will stop at the gas stations and get som fluid for the DPF and try running a bit high at the revs so we can hopefully blow it a bit clear

this is by far the next step, 20 min in to the road trip the car hit me with a yellow warning for the DPF so first thing tomorrow will stop at a gas station and pick up something like this

Best of luck, I personally like Seafoam. When I did a engine swap the old motor pistons looked new compared to the donor engine.

Keep us updated!

it got a little better after I used the Seafoam, but didn’t fully recover so I talked to a friend of mine who used to overhaul DPF and he gave me a tips on trying to rins the DPF first with some industrial soap, som real strong stuff to see if that helps first. But that has to wait until I get home

Now im just confused, when we startet our trip home it suddenly started acting up again. Like it’s almost choking even when we are driving now.

as soon as I unplug the MAF it’s driving fine, way slower acceleration but it’s driving nice. Which takes me away from the DPF.. So the question is, which sensors is communicating with the MAF 🤔 and effecting it like that

Are you throwing any sensor codes? I feel you may still have something intermittently failing or clogged. If SeaFoam helped a little, you may need to go through a couple more fueling cycles. Also, if you're using cheap fuel, it can be counterproductive to SeaFoam.
