I drive my car quite a bit for business and it runs very well. 30 MPG, smooth as silk, EXCEPT when I am pulling up a long hill. The car seems to stutter. While not sure if it's just this RMP range, 2500 to 3000 RPM is when I notice it.
Cruising just fine, 75 MPH, then a long up hill. Often I am using cruise control and under the load it starts to surge as if it's having a hard time.
I'm prepared to do the work myself. Could it be Vanos, fuel pump, fuel filter or vacuum leak? Appreciate the information!

Has it been consistent for a while -- if it's just recent maybe bad gas. Could also be spark plugs or ignition coils. Get a code reader for BMWs and see what the car is telling you. I suspect it has something stored.

thanks, TWH. It's been happening for a while .. but yes, seemingly mostly on, but sometimes off (when it's cooler?) I have BMWhat and a code reader and will take a look. Here are the latest faults that I can see .. I think I'll rerun them. I may have deleted a fault. I also want to put ethanol-free in to see if that helps, if I can find a long-uphill pull.

Sorry, yes. Please see this post:
https://5series.net/forums/e60-discu...solved-139716/
It is a DME software update, and the Service Information Bulletin (?) is: SIB 12 08 05
