Hey guys,

I've got an 04 530i, SMG, and have been running into this problem I can't figure out:

Whenever I accelerate past 4000rpm, the acceleration starts to "stutter" (I don't know how else to put it).. Kinda like it wants to accelerate but something is holding it back. I can accelerate up to 4000rpm just fine, just have this issue when i try to go above it..

Tranny shifts fine, etc..

Any ideas??

Thanks

Try this:

Put the key in the 2nd position (ON)

Hold down your gas pedal to the kickdown position for 25-30 seconds and let go.

Start your car.

This resets the trans to factory settings. Should help!

Do you have the paddle shifters? I think it's a little different for the SMG's. I think you have to get your speed to about 50, put it in neutral, and pull both paddles towards you for 5 seconds.

My 08 535 too. Exact same symptoms. I have already had to replace the HPFP and this feels like something different. I am thinking it might be a defective fuel injector. Taking it to the dealer this coming week to have that and another 3 or 4 things corrected.
