I would demand that the insurance total it. I had too many friends whose cars got flooded in Katrina. There is usually a lot of electronics under the seats, wiring, and sensors. Airbags would open as people drove down the road, Your car is flood damaged. We are not talking a basement here with a sump pump.
I would put it back on the insurance company. Ask them if they can guarantee your car is safe and ask them if they are willing to assume any liabilty for fatalities or injuries caused by electronics being damaged.

Keep us updated.

well it's still at the dealer. Im assuming the longer it stays in there the worse the diagnosis looks. My cuz that works for them said modules and harness's need to be replaced. its fixable but its taking time and well i agree 100% that down the road the car will act up.

Having the insurance guarantee i will be safe in this car is a good thing to try and do. i hope they can agree. if not, i will try to get them to replace my e60 with a nicer one.

and to answer everyones question, lol I live in woodside queens. lol...right off the bqe by queens blvd. for some reason the whol street got flooded big time. and hence well...i got to the car after all the water drained. i could imagine how bad it was when this was all happening.

cross ur fingers lol.

day 9 without my baby... other cars just arent the same right now lol

Dude, that just sucks! I've never seen anything that bad just from rain. What a freak incident. Best of luck getting your baby back in good shape!

Sorry to hear that man. I used to live in Elmhurst, and lived in the basement level of my parents 3 family house. It flooded there 2 years in a row. (last summer and the summer before that) It was horrible. I hate floods, and I'm sure you do too.

Good luck man.

Good luck. I know that thing must stink inside now. That smell is almost impossible to get rid of. I would be leery of the electronics inside as well. An M5 would be a big jump up from a 525i though! Keep us posted.

E60wCheese,

Sorry to see the state of ur car! very unfortunate!

In case you keeping the car, I belive u will have to STEAM Clean the carpet to get rid of the smell, and leave the doors open for around 24-48 hours for the smell to go away.
