I tried to search the forums for similar posts but havent found anything. If there's anything, someone please link me or direct me.

Whenever I turn the car on or off, the tilt (as you know) goes up and down. It makes this horrible noise, and I REAAAALLLY dont want to go to the dealer and have him tell there's like 400 dollars worth of work that needs to be done to get rid of it. I had a gang of hot women with me this past weekend, and this insane noise was NOT cool. Its been happening on and off for a while. Sometimes I try to blame it on various temps or weather, etc but I dont what the deal is.

Someone please tell me I dont need to go to the dealer to eliminate this stupid sound.
Thanks!

Use the google search. Type in Steering Column.

What does the noise sound like? Screaching?

Ok the search came up with steering column replacements for the noise. I dont think I'll be doing all that.

Does it only happen when the steering column goes up and down?

Just had this same problem fixed by the dealer. They tried replacing the trim and leather around the steering column. Nothing worked. They ended up replacing the steering column. Mine's still under warranty so I did not pay anything. Hopefully yours is a simple fix.

Was your sound more a creaking or a rubbing noise?
