Default Stretched Tire issues?

Hey guys,

I have 08' 550 and running 275/30/19 Continentals. I just purchased new rims and the backs are 10.5" wide. The guy I bought it from said that it'd fit that tire size but it'd be stretched. Anybody know if this is good or bad? Will my tires blow out on me!?!?! THANKS!

personally i dont like tires being stretched. the rim is a lot more prone to damage, and i think it just doesnt look good.
i attached an example pic of how it would look.

Stretched tires look terrible. 275's on a 10.5" wheel shouldn't look as bad as the picture above but anything beyond some very minor stretching just doesn't look good.

That tire is hella stretched. OP your tire won't look like that however it will be slightly stretched. I'm currently running 275's on my 10.5 wheel and haven't had a problem. I will say after I get my rear fenders rolled I will be upgrading to 295/25r20's in the rear.

You'll be fine. I got 275 on 10.5" wheels too. No issues at all.

Yes DK, but do you prob have 275/20's like I have on my 10,5. He has 19's. Am I wrong? Or maybe it wont matter.

Just noticed 19's. Don't know then. I think it should be fine.

You willing to trade tires? I have the 295/25 in the rear and 245/30 front, but rims are 9" front and 10" rear.. Let me know

this always confused me

wouldn't you rather rim damage, (i.e curb rash, which can be filled/fixed)
rather than tire damage, which could ruin your rubber and cause a blowout//pressure problems?

this confusion only really came after my wife took a chunk out of my rear right tire parallel parking..

Relax, I run 275/35/20 on my rears. The stretch will vary by the tire design (I have Falken FK452). They are a tad stretched, but not noticeably so. At least in my case, it's the only way I can lower my car and not rub with the 20's. But then you have to consider your offset as well, I have M6 offsets, which is pretty aggressive for a non-M car.
