Streaming iphone musing to car
#1
I have bluetooth (BT) on my car and calls work great. I tried streaming music from my iphone 4 to the car and nothing happens - I do not get that little icon next to the volume to select to stream to BT device.
I did a little research and I guess that your BT needs to support the A2DP protocol in order to allow for streaming music and I guess my 2005 545 does not have that. Is that true? Any options? Is it something that the dealer can do by a software change? Any other options for streaming via BT
Thanks and RIP Steve

I would love it but I'm not quite sure but i think it is not possible unless you upgrade the entire system. Only way to play music is to have iPod integration

Can't do it - otherwise I'd get a 4G smartphone and stream music via Pandora. The bluetooth on the car would have to be programmed to allow more than address book and voice call connections.
I think the F10 may be leaning in this direction

It was unconvienent for me to use iPhone to play music though iPod integration in short trips. You have it plug and unplug it all the time, which really sucks. I dicided to buy a used 2nd generation iPod nano and leave it in glove box. But if you want to use your iPhone anyway make sure you buy upgraded iPod interface to charge iPhone same time. I got older interface and it only charges old generation iPhones and iPods

There are many threads regarding this topic you have to search just google or search this forum "BMW E60 iPod integration". New from BMW cost under $400, there are aftermarket called Dension and Speck Dock I think, they are around $500
