Strange sound

With the engine running, when i pull out the engine oil dipstick I can hear a strange gurgle... Is this normal?

Why would you even want to do that? You can't probe the oil level with the engine running.

+1 have you tried checking the oil level w/the engine OFF???

I just had the head gasket replaced and I'm suspecting a cracked block 'cause I'm getting oil in the coolant still... smarta$$.
trust me I know how to check the oil level. just poking around for anything unusual.

If you are talking about a diesel engine, I've read somewhere that this is quite normal.
