Hey guys,

My car has about 700 miles on it...A few days ago I noticed a wierd sound that sounds like metal viberating. I only notice it when the windows are down but it is very loud and is coming from the front portion of the car. It can happen when i'm accelerating or randomly occurs when I am coasting to a stop. The only thing that I can think of that might have caused this was hitting an unexpected bump in a landslide zone late at night. It gave the car quite a jolt but I didn't have the windows down so I'm not sure if the bump caused the sound.

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks....I absolutly LOVE this car!

Checked the wheels (rims) to see if anything is loose, like a broken nut?

hmmm I'll check the wheels tommorow thanks for the suggestion. If nobody else is having this problem there must be something wrong which would mean a trip to the dealer...

Possibly a loose exhaust / cat heat shield?
It happened to a catalytic converter on a car I had many years ago.
Irritating at best.
Just a thought.

It could be many things. Dealer time, IMO.

Hey guys after a trip to the dealer they say the problem is "the catalytic converter is coming apart". Well, they assured me its safe to drive and ordered new parts. Hopefully that will clear up the problem!

That's exactly what I was going to predict, or some sort of heat shield. Very tinny vibration rattle. No sweat; it's all covered under warranty.

Glad to hear it is something rather simple to repair.

I had the same thing on my 540. Sounded like a bucket of bolts under the car. The dealer replaced both cats under warranty.
