Do you know what this is?

This is a car I saw today:
First I thought it is a flag pole or something, but on the other side, there was nothing.

I don't know. I hope one doesn't appear on my car. Push button hood opener? Strange reflection--and you are trying to see if we can figure it out. Pedestrian smasher holder.

I think it's for a flag. On a Merc you can buy a a flag pole for the right side and one for the left side, separately.

Why would you place a flag on only one side?

not always you put two flags, like if its a consulates car and not the ambasaddor then only 1 Flag.

I think you are right, because the licenseplate said "CD-XX-XX"

and in the netherlands these 2 first characters are pretty unique, and stands probably for "Corps Diplomatique"

Don't say that! If Iceman hear's than an option he doesn't have, he's going to rush down to his dealer and try to order one...
