When my car wakes up, I hear occassional ta-ta-ta noise. I first thought it was problem with starting the engine, but I think the noise is coming from the DVD Nav or CD player. Anybody hear the same ta-ta-ta with the DVD player.

Are you sure it's from the CD / Nav? Sounds to me like it could be a steering rack. Is it a rapid "clicking" / "grinding" noise happening approx. 8 to 10 times in succession????

I had this for a while also, when I got upgraded to ver 15.0 software. Back in January, got upgraded to 18.0 to solve the transmission "slam" issue and it has not occured since then. I don't have Nav or the Active Steering, so the sound was definitely from the in-dash CD player. I always have a CD in the player, but the sound was intermitent and hard to replicate for the service guys. Apparetnly 18 solved my issue, but being a 3/05 build, you'd think that your car would already have 18.x.

I also had the same problem. It got to the point where the cd playing would start to skip as if it was scratched. My dealer just replaced the entire cd player a couple of weeks ago and everything has been fine since.

Well, it seems as if a few people are having the same issues with their cd player. As I said in my previous post, mine started out making that weird noise and then progressed to the point where it started skipping as if the cd was scratched and then got progressively worse. I would advise you guys to listen when you are playing your cds to see if they start skipping, chances are its not as a result of smudgy cds or scratched cds. As I said the dealer replaced my entire cd unit.

I am not sure if the noise is from in dash CD or active steering. I will try to take out the CD from the in dash CD unit to see if the noise goes away. Thanks everyone.

I had a 'ticking' noise coming from behind the dashboard. After a few weeks my speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge stopped working. I had to have the entire instrument cluster replaced.

Now, if the noise is "DA DA DA", it means you're driving a four year old Volkswagen.
