My Ride: Stock 2004 530i with most options. 18" M5 look alike wheels Bought August 2008 with 34k on it.
2006 Range Rover Sport with K&N filter and Borla cat back exhaust.
Maybe a Defender soon or an old M3 to play with, although the wife has other ideas!
Just bought an 04 530i and noticed a weird noise this morrnig. When I unlock the car with the arrow on the key, my cd motor activates as if it were trying to load a disk. This happened twice this morning out of maybe five cycles of locking and unlocking the doors. My cd player is the factory in dash single unit and does not have the changer.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the advice

Hi Scott,
Welcome to the forum.
Don't be too alarmed about strange noises, whirrs, clicks, thuds and groans when you first get in the car.
It can be a myriad of things - the majority of which are normal. Most internal noises can be attributed to the heater and its associated controls. When you switch the car off and leave it, the car shuts down after a while, and in doing so, various flaps close to "seal" the car. When you get in, the act of unlocking the door reactivates all the flaps.
If you drive your car very gently for a couple of miles from cold, it is common to hear groans from the flaps as they try to get your car interior to a proper temperature.
Saying that, do you have a disc in the CD drive, because each time you get in the car, the CD will spin anyway - the Audio system is never "off" when the car is active, just in "Standby" because the whole thing is integrated into the iDrive.
If you had a CD changer, it would be in the glove box.
Enjoy the ride!
Mike
