Stage II $2200 for 384 hp and 421 ft lbs
There is also a Stage I $1700 that still gets you past the 550's hp and torque with 366 hp and 379 ft lbs.

Can you not use a simple electronic boost controller to raise boost, such as the AEM Tru-Boost? It's a boost gauge/ EBC all in one unit, that allows you to adjust boost "on the fly"....and only cost around $200. I'm guessing though that the ecu is smarter than that and you can't use one.

It's not all about boost. You need to adjust the fuel mixture ratios differently with additional boost, it retards and advancing timing, it changes the coolant pumps speed. It decreases boost at the upper rpms. Plus many other things. An ECU remap gives you phenomenal performance boosts for $2000, there is nothing else that you can do for that kind of money that will get you anywhere near the power increase. I dont even think that nitrous could give you a 40% increase in torque and reliability for less cost.

I am aware.....I know the in's and out's of proper turbo tuning. I've been tuning/ modding turbo nissans for 20+ years now.

You would have a better chance of blowing your engine before blowing a turbo/s

Sorry didn't mean to talk down to you, we are trying to help. If you look at my sig i had a Nissan Turbo as well which coincidentally was also a 3.0 liter six cylinder. I used to race it at Bridge Hampton's 2.9 mile road course. My 535 would beat the piss out of it around the track.

dinan also provides a warranty for service needed that BMW will not cover if dinan installed parts/programs are proven to be the cause of said problem. So if you don't mind the cost and want some peace of mind, go with dinan...

most N54 ecu flashes are relatively new to the industry however the companies that have come up with tunes are not new to the tuning world:

GIAC, ESS, RPI/ESS, LET, etc....all have been stated and reported by independent users to not throw manip codes so warranty should not be voided...

S1 ecu remaps other than dinan will run between $600-$800. e90posts FI section is a great resource for more info on tunes, cost, dyno's, etc...

Other than the warranty, Dinan shows before and after Dyno runs with the same car on the same Dyno machine. So you know exactly what the software is adding. I haven't seen that comparison from the other tuners, but I haven't looked since Spring 2008 when I did mine. I would say that they have been the leader for performance enhancements for BMW's. They do discuss a physical engine design limit which they warn against exceeding. The inline 6 has a long crankshaft, equal to that of a twelve cylinder, so at a certain power level and rpm you do get crankshaft flex. Dinan is the most expensive but our cars are $60-70k each as well.
