Sticky shift
I've had a couple of instances where after reversing I can't shift into drive. Feels like the shift handle is frozen. Usually if you're in reverse and stop, it'll go into drive without pressing the side button provided you're still on the brake.
After wiggling it around and re-selecting park/reverse it has worked.
Ideas?

I have not read about this problem before. If it is a mechanical failure with the shifter, it is not a terribly hard DIY project to replace it.

Random. The shifter is packed with solenoids and other electronics. The thumb button uses an optical sensor and there's a split FFC pigtail connector from the main PCBA to the knob PCBA. I have a second shifter that got damaged during an internal enganglement with a young lady, so I took it apart to see what makes it tick.
