I had the same problem on my e60 only it was the right hand side. Anyway i first checked the speakers for loose wire all wer ok, then i pulled the headunit out BINGO there was a loose wire hanging out off unit pused it back in all ok. Hope this helps good luck.

After reading yourthread i went down to my car and switched her on/turned her on!! LOL

the stereo was still malufunctioning on the LHS but i kind of whacked! the mid console area with my hand and hey.........you guessed it, i started to work. therefore i can know safely conclude that i too have a loose wire somewhere. i starting a new thread now to see if anyone has full instruction on how to remove the CCC safely as the STEALERS want to ROB me again by saying that

"sir your car has many cables behind that unit, some of which are highly sensitive and are more comly known as FIBRE OPTICS and there may be a good chance you may ruin them. You should really book it in for about 2 hours at ?110 + VAT"

removed the CCC and plugged the wires back in working fine now
