Why does the stereo ALWAYS turn on after starting the car, regardless if you left the car with it off?

I find this to be rather annoying. It should start the way you left it.

If you left it on, it should turn on.
If you left it off, it should remain off.

Is this an option which can be changed?

SubterFUSE

What version of s/w are you running? I had same problem with A/C, but after BMW upgraded (just last week) my s/w from 11.x to 13.2 I started having same problems with stereo. The only bug that got fixed by installing new s/w is the CD retains track memory now.

I have the same issue in my 2005 545i. There must be a way to turn it off. Also if I press the button next to the cd player when a cd is playing, the sound cuts out but the cd keeps going. How can you easily stop and start the cd player?

By pressing "Eject" button
Sorry, I was only joking. Actually, I'm pretty disappointed with s/w that runs some of the components. To buggy for such expensive cars.

You need to get a software update - it solves this problem. Mine did the same, now mutes AND pauses the CD.

Thanks for the responce. Does the new version also allow the radio to be turned off and not come on when you restart the car?

Iceman,

What about AC? My AC ALWAYS turns on after starting the car, even though I left the car with it off. My s/w was upgraded to 13.2 last week.

Thanks!
Serge.

Damn! Do you ever sleep??? it's like what, around 23 in Germany?

So, you always leave your climate control "ON"? What about winters when you need every available amp to start the engine?
