When I first decided sale my Benz for a Bimmer (read up Dhaimler Dodge Benz or whatever you guys namedthat company), I wanted to played it conservative. No extras, just NAV and Steptronic. Wife told me to max it out. I didn't listen and paid for it by wanting when car arrived.

Second, after a friend let me roll a day in his 545, and had to hear her nag on the way home, "we should have gotten that one."

THEN when I wanted a manual, I figured hey, this is a family car, get an automatic so the wife and kid can ride in peace. Ordered steptronic...

TODAY, we are driving around doing errands, and I'm shootgun. I notice we had alot of power I nevered noticed... Wifey is zooming through traffic and took a few turns at speed! I'm hearing the engine and exhaust high revving, F1 type of deal... I'm like, did you put a different gas in here. Then I see her working the Steptronic, which I have never messed with... She's got this evil grin as she works the gears back and forth... I'm like WTF.

Finally, to add insult to injury, she pulls off from a redlight, and redlines first gear, turns to me and says "Why didn't you get a stick?"

To all you guys about to order... have a family meeting first, and don't just discuss finance!

Sharing your car with your wife is something to avoid if at all possible. Give her the car and get yourself a 545 6-speed in a color that she hates.

I would kill myself if I was you. Oh my GOD!!!!!!!
Luckily 545 manual was a slam dunk for me. My wife loves driving it especially now that I have had the CDV modified.

My wife drove my 530i last weekend. She told me she liked my old 330Ci convertible with manual gearbox more because it was more sporty.. :'(

Don't worry, Ruf. Considering the fact that she's apparently redlining that engine in every gear, everywhere she goes, you'll likely be getting a new car before you know it!!!!!!!!!
