I was in 5th gear at about 120-125 mph (DS mode) and decided to floor it, but the step did not respond. It didn't downshift to fourth (in DS mode) and I think 4th redlines at 130 mph. In any case, even if I was in 5th at 130 mph, I was expecting a response from the car. It was as though the car ran out of breathe. It's the same feeling as if the governor stepped in. I was a bit disappoint and starting dreaming about a 500+ hp motor.

In any case, if someone can enlighten me, I greatly appreciated. It happened to me before I changed out the exhaust system too. The car responded the same way . . . 120 mph ish cruise . . . pedal to the metal . . . no response from the engine or tranny.

Is this normal?

No, but I know that once it hits the rev. limiter, 4th gear will jump to 5th even in manual mode. Have I pushed the limit of the step and the engine at 130+ mph in 5th gear that it will not respond when I floor it?

hmm...id suggest the next time you're playing, to do so in sports manual mode...a question though from your original note, if you were in DS, how and why did you think or know you were in 5th and expecting it to drop to 4th? Perhaps you were in 4th and the car wouldnt drop to 3rd due to the revs?

I only drive (well 99.9% ) in Manual mode and do all my shifts, but i will confirm that the 4.4L will pull all the way to the VMAX, so in any case there should have been plenty of room to move forward and have pedal response. Im thinking you may have been in 4th and not realized it when you were expecting to drop gears which would make sense since 3rd at 125 is probably too much...but again, be sure that the car will pull to the cutoff and I believe if the VMAX is off that the 4.4l can pull to atleast 170 if not 180

...its much better and more controlled to shift yourself and you'll always be sure what gear you're in.
