I was wondering, since i like to drive with the seat in the lowest position and quite far away from the steering wheel but positioned just fine according to the rules, i like to have my steering wheel in the lowest position but for whatever reason it isn't exactly in the lowest position everytime i start the car. There is always some room left but it would be perfect if it would go all the way down. It seems it's smth normal but why can't it go all the way down, cuz if i move the steering wheel back and forth it climbs up a bit to it's lowest position and then starts to move back and forth. Why is that?

I have a MY 2007. When I push the unlock botton on the remote to enter the vehicle, the steering wheel and driver seat go back to the current memory setting for the remote that is being used to unlock the vehicle.

the steering wheel goes to about 3/4th of an inch to its lowest position... dont know what BMW are thinking, but i personaly dont think that extra inch will crush you....i have to say that this is a bit anoying...nothing to complain about just, would be better that way....

The thing I find annoying is that the steering wheel blocks my speedometer from 50-70 mph. Always got to pick over or under to see the speed. OK, maybe I'm a bit lazy but it is annoying and not unique to BMW

the memory can be set also in Idrive, I set it as when I open the car the seats move to my position, the outter part is opening wide and the mirrors too, and the steering wheel all are just watching and then asking, your car is alive, sure its a Bimma'

BTW go to a BMW Fahrertraining, I drove like you aka gangsta leanin' back! not safe mate, the first the instructor again demanded to position myself as I have to: you sit like both arms are on the steering wheel above and your wrists must be just in the middle of the top of the steering wheel and in this position you have to sit and be able to see all mirrors, so you set your seats and mirrors that way, belive me he was damn right took me two weeks to get used to it and now much safer.

How he prooved me? He asked me in my old settings to go up not more than 70-80 km/h and immed stop brake, then he made me adjust the seats and steering as above and yes, he was right I felt the difference and the car more, in short: my steering is also low but I am not leaning backwards just sit normal. Eg on track you cannot drive otw.

Who said anything about siting backwards? I just sit normally and about a year ago i really learned how to position myself correctly (the same for racing). I know about the angles of the hands, about the condition to keep both hands at 9 and 3 o'clock, also about the fact that if you steer completly as much as your hands permit till you tie them the back shouldn't move from the backseat and all the other stuff, one doesn't need a course to position himself corectly, just to read a couple of documents like the bmwna driver training and other stuff.
I just sit like that because i feel the best in that positions and by the rules for the correct position. I was just asking because i have the steering wheel tilted all the way down and that was just a dilema to me, about the steering wheel not going all the way to the bottom.
