Below is what my SA says about my off center steering wheel. I don't think this is true but I'm not sure. On the last service they did some Progman updates and if I recall if the wheel was not straight when they started it back up it might not reinitialize properly. I did try the resetting procedures found here but that made no difference.

"There is no reset on the Active Steering. If the steering wheel is off center, the only way to adjust it, is to adjust the tie-rods, which is doing the alignment. If we performed any repair that would have affected the steering, ie: and Alignment, or steering rack replacement, I would correct that work, but at the last visit we did not perform anything that affects the steering, and the only way for the steering wheel to be off-center, is for the alignment to be slightly off."

I am not experienced with AS but for regular cars that explanation checks out.

Indeed. But AS *DOES* have a special centre reset procedure. Take the car back and demand it!!! There's probably a SB around here detailing it!!!

When I took delivery of my 550 (with AS) I noticed the steering wheel was slightly off center. The dealer corrected it no problem and it was not in the shop long enough that they would have done a wheel alignment.

Indeed, it's an electronic calibration (assuming the mechanics are fine) and is done in less than 30 mins... (It's not unusual for this to be messed up following a coding!)

Thanks... I thought I was going crazy. Just another example of the community being better informed than the professionals.

Rudy, any docs out there on this?

That's a whole lot of BS.

After work on AS it needs to be reset, and the workshop sometimes forgot to do it. They are obligated to take and reset the steering wheel as part of the original fix i.e. FOC.
