The steering column can be calibrated just like the windows (going all way up and down procedure).
In my experience it will only work correctly with software 13.1 (stops at EXACTLY the same position all the time)

I had the same thing happen about 2 mos ago. The steering wheel went up
to a certain level but hampered exiting the vehicle. I pressed up on the lever
that raises the wheel and at the same time gently pressed up on the wheel
itself. It raised approx. 1.5 to 2 in. more. Since then it raises all the way by
itself. Go figure.

Played with the steering wheel upon leaving the office and I do have it all the way up. The real variable in terms of seeing the guages is the amount you recline your seat. I keep my seat very straight, almost no recline, so I need the steering wheel all the way up to have an unobstructed view. If I recline the seat even a little bit, I can lower the wheel and still see the gauges fine.

The only problem I have with the steering wheel is that it obstructs the right signal and #4 on the tach. This is the most confortable position that I can adjust.

I'm excited about the possibility of raising the steering wheel a bit higher than it has been able to go with the motor going up to the top. I'm 6'2" and cannot see the right arrow usually.
I do remember though, the most cars have the steering wheel angled slightly off center, that is angled slightly to the left/dirver's door because of the location that it connects under hood into steering components. I'm going to check on the steering wheel angle as seen from above to know if it also is slightly angled like many cars are.
