Hi All,

Great forum - I've been an observer for a couple of months but have never posted.

I have recently purchased my E60 and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a slight bump or knock that can be felt through the steering wheel when turning around round-a-bouts or sharp turns when nearing full lock.

Anyone any ideas what this may be?

Your help is appreciated!

Could be a bad steering rack. I think couple have had theirs replaced. Run a search...

Do you have Active Steering? Mine does this sometimes in parking lots. I can feel it through the steering wheel, but no noise or sounds.

Have the same issue, plus my steering does not feel as responsive and when I engage sports button on my SA tranny it doesn't seem to change the streeting feel and make it harder or more responsive. I have an 08 535i with a sport package.

Yep, I've noticed the same thing with my 04' 545 while in parking lots making full turns. I have Active Steering.

I get a click in the steering at lowish speed manoeuvres; the dealer plans to replace the entire column. Forum searches have suggested it's the column to rack coupling that's at fault.
