The OEM emblem does not open up, it is fixed to the airbag and does not come off. The OEM roundel has nothing to do with airbag deployment. Placing a stick on replacment roundel on top of the OEM steering wheel roundel will NOT hinder airbag deployment.
Thanks for clearing it up, John. I remember hearing or reading something about the emblem being a part of the airbag and I was like "no way". Thanks for clearing up the myth

Mine is dented, too. Its dented from slamming on the wheel honking the horn at random idiots on the road.
I don't use the horn for that. I hurl delicious, hot muffins at them. True story, one of these days I'll post the whole story.

I had my airbag replaced when the dealer accidentally dented the elblem. I was told that the badge itself cannot be changed as it is attached in such a way as to ensure it does not become a projectile when the airbag deploys.

Ian.

Is the replacement of a dented steering wheel emblem covered under 4 yr/50,000 miles warranty?

My emblem is dented as well and the dealer told me that it's not going to be covered. I guess I need to buy one myself. Good to know that it can be replaced without replacing the whole airbag
