Steering clunk

About a year later, I noticed a different clunk specially when leaving from a parked position, it turned out to be the bolts for the front struts - the ones inside the engine bay. Tightened them up, clunking went away.




most likely and it is common on e60 you can't tell until you replace it even when you take it off it looks ok but when new one in place noise will go off. I would start from this part STEERING KNUCKLE COUPLING

@pcy five years have gone... did you manage to solve this issue? Having the same noise on a 2004 E60 with Active Steering.
