I too had a click or creaking noise whenever I turned my steering wheel past a certain point either left or right. Not only could you hear this noise but you could also feel it. The dealer changed the steering rod a few months ago and this problem never came back. I will try to find the work order and advise exact name of the part.
This sounds exactly like a problem I have...The steering creaks and howls when parking and at low speeds. My dealer has had a look at it and they want me to take it back to leave with them for 2 days so they can find the fault. I have also noticed the steering clunk problem since then, it happens when turning right out of a junction.

Reading these posts, it now sounds as though these two problems are connected. Did 'gabman' or anyone else find the part references so I can tell my dealer. Is it just the lower steering ball joints, or the rod, or both?

There is a TSB on the PuMa system that calls for the ordering of a special lubricant to be used where the telescoping steering column meets a connection at the other end.

Ask your dealer to search on PuMa for steering clunk/noise and he will find the TSB.
Can anyone provide a reference to this TSB please?

I have the same clunking sound. I can also feel the clunk as if there is a slight free play in the steering. This only occurs at low speeds when parking. I asked the dealer to check it out and the tech said he didn't notice anything, but tighted all the steering connections. My car still has the clunk. Please keep us updated on whether or not the clunk comes back.

I am also in the same situation, out of warranty, but have the steering clunk only when driving slow, uaually round a left corner, like a parking space or into my driveway.
I can also feel it in the steering wheel.

Me too. Am going to try to lube it myself as it sounds pretty simple and my car is out of warranty.
