Stay inside garage for 2 years. Wondering...
Hey guys,
I'm wondering if I should unplug my E60 battery since I'll be on a work assignment away from my 525xi 50k miles for 26 months.
Some info:
525xi
50k miles on the dot
No oil change yet
Any idea what should I do before traveling?

Wow 2 years.. Why dont just sell it because value of the car reduces too much in 2 years..
But yea it's probably good to remove tha battery atleast.. You probably have to buy new one after you come back..
And remember that there comes some problems with the cars if they are undriven long times..
Even one car salesman told me when car is long time for sale it comes up with some defects..
So If I would be you i would sell the car and buy new one after come back..

I have clients that store cars for a long time and what we do is make sure all the fluids are changed and at the proper level. We completely fill the gas tanks and add fuel stabilizer. Remove all the spark plugs and fog the cylinders and then reinstall the spark plugs (do not run the engine after this step) and then we put them all on battery tenders. We used to disconnect the batteries on newer cars until we had a Mercedes that lost the programming on 3 modules and had to be reprogrammed, ever since we put them on battery tenders.
Seriously though if I was going to be gone for 2 years I would sell the car.

I love the car, I don't want to sell it but I'll be coming back every 3-4 months for 2 weeks but knowing me I'll probably drive my mom's Audi since it's always in front and easy to access.
But I really appreciate the feedback guys.

If you are coming back every 3-4 months. put it on a battery tender ($25 bucks from Sears), and make the effort to at least take it for a spin when you come back in.
I had a track car for several years that was driven every 4-5 months after being left on a battery tender in an unheated garage, never had any issues with it.
