Excuse me for asking a dumb question, but I see a lot of you mentioning getting a copy of the status report after having a software update. What is the status report, and is it usually policy for the dealerships to provide that after service? I'm going in Monday for a few fixes, one of them updating the CIP to 16.2 and I would love to know for certain what version actually gets installed. My SA seems to have NO CLUE about the software versions, and when I spoke to him recently didn't even know what the latest version they had was. He had to go ask the tech!! That doesn't inspire a lot of faith, I must say.

Anyway, TIA for the help!!

That's why you should get the report. On it you find the correct and complete software version. After you have that we can compare it and can let you know if you have gotten the CIP 16.2 or something else.
It is NOT usual or policy for the dealers to do it.
But it's also no big deal for them to give it to you.

Thanks Iceman....that's what I would want to know....if, in fact, I actually got the current version, since I don't believe most of what comes out the service department!! I'll ask for the Status Report....and that's what it's called? Status Report? I can just see the SA's face when I ask, lol, he'll tell me he has no idea what I am talking about!!

Do they charge anything for these updates?

The way my service manager (the big boss of service) explained it to me, is that if there is a "problem" you are experiencing that results from the software verion being old, and you call for service about that problem, the software will be updated under the warranty.

However, the warranty does not include free updates just because you want them or just because there is a newer version.

Yep, that's what it's called.
And there you will find the software version on it, something that starts with E060-.........
This is the actual number of the software version that youhave after the software upgrade (CIP)...
