State Inspection Service Light

Just bought an 08 528i and I got the State Inspection Service Light I live in California do I need to get this done?

you can change the date through your idrive menu and it will clear it. mine came on too, but i don't need to smog my car this year.

This is not a statutory warning system. It is simply a reminder system (a calendar, if you will) to help remind you of whatever requirements you may have. It is up to you to set and manage it.

Timely post. Mine just came on yesterday. Less than a minute in i-Drive to change the date to whatever you want. Totally redundent useless date if you can change it like that. Put in wedding anniversary as a reminder. LOL

Have the dealer or service shop disable that. State inspection is not needed in California.
