Starting Problems

My 545i wont start if its hot. Another problem is that the RPM starts jumping like crazy and the car turns off by itself. It says transmission malfunction, but I think it has something to do with a sensor. Help Please has anybody had these problems

It says transmission error on the iDrive screen? Then have the error codes read out, either by a friend with cable+laptop or the dealer/indy, small investment to find out more details about a potentially very large, or very small problem I'd say...
