We've got the standard (UK) system, and it's fine in most circumstances, but not "audiophile" quality. Saying that, I've got the top spec "Bose" system in my Porsche, and it's not that much better than the sound in the Beemer until it's cranked up unbearably loud, especially if you're not stationary.
It's a bit daft, really - 95% of the time I'm listening to music is when I'm in the car, and most of that on the boggo BMW system, whereas the 15 grand hi-fi in my lounge hardly ever gets a run out! Perhaps I should have specced Logic 7 and traded in the TAG hi-fi for an Amstrad cassette radio ...

I am on my 2nd E60 first had std UK system and it was, sorry for anyone who has std, pants.
on this car i told myself i'd get L7 but the skinflint in me came out and i only ticked the box for HiFi.....and to be honest i have no regrets.
the HiFi upgrade is a massive improvement over the std uk/emea setup, L7 is good but i could not really see the big difference when i tested the two side by side...i didn't like the dsp type effect but thats just my preference.
for an xtra 370 GBP the HiFi upgrade was money well spent...though i think considering the cost of the car it should be standard equipment really.
