If I had to guess, it sounds like it is just the shocks depressing, as weight is being added to the back. I wouldnt worry about it....

Thats what i was thinking. I went to bmw in Kentish town (north west london) and (during a casual chat) they told me the labour alone is ?200 per hour!!!!

This bm sh** aint cheap.

Still, i got some plans for that money, like a sub and amp package then maybe remap the ecu. I found a suba nd amp for ?149 then its ?115 for the fitting. They guys said he had to charge a bit more b'coz of the idrive?????

How much has your sounds system set u guys back?

The rear third brake light was loose on my car and the dealer readjusted it and everything is fine now. I never would've noticed a squeak like this in my old Hondas, but in this car everything seems to be pronounced...

Hi,
Dont go replacing your shocks too quick. The squeaking from the rear is more likely to be the lower rear ball joints one on each side usually they squeak first then when you need an mot there will be some play in the rear wheel thats been making the noise.
They are called ball joints but in actual fact are more like bushes. I think they cost me about ?20 each and there is one on each side. My mechanic made a tool to press them out and they take about an hour a side.
If you want a temporary fix to get rid of the noise just cut a small hole in the rubber around the joint and spray in wd40 and that takes the squeaking away until you get them changed.

Cheers

Hi again,
Go onto ebay uk and search "bmw 5 series e60 bush" and i am positive that these are the bushes that will be causing your squeak also these ones are a great price.
