Your dealer is pulling your leg. I have a 06 530i also and my brakes squeek like hell. I used to have amercedes benz and I remember the brakes used to come with this grease that you applied to the back of the pads so they could stop squeeking. Maybe BMW should do the same

They do..its an anti-squeal compound between the shim and the pad. BMW call this compound Plastilube. Without this stuff, the shim resonates and makes the squeal.

Ahhh... Maybe THAT is why Mercedes don't brake for sh%t? They put grease on the pads.

I live in the South, and everyone gets squeaky brakes here due to the heat and humidity.

Well I know in HK that if itis not OEM bmw they will not touch it, even like your case.
I have change alot on my car and they will not touch the parts that I have changed.

Is the dealer aware of the brake wear sensor problem? There's a known issue with the sensor squeaking -- I think there's a redesigned sensor available and the fix should be under warranty.

If the sensor is causing you the trouble, then I can't see why the dealer wouldn't change them -- even if you have painted calipers.

One other thing to check (since the squealing is worse after the painting) is to be sure that the sensor is properly mounted.

The following page shows you the parts of a front brake -- take a look at the sensor (part #13):
