My '04 has developed a very noticeable squeak when you turn the steering wheel; dealership has lubricated the wheel with no success. Next course of action is removing the steering column for approximately $1200. Not happy with that course of action, and not happy with the squeak. Has anyone else experienced this situation and know of a fix. Thanks!

[just had mine back for third time with this problem. Previously they lubricated, then replaced a joint. Most recently they lubricated with a differnent substance as per communication from BMW UK according to Service Manager.Seems to be a common complaint. last visit has sorted problemfor the minute.

Brad, thanks for the post....would you happen to have a reference for the different substance that has worked?

I've had this start since the column was replaced a couple of months ago.

I have the same problem. The funny thing is that I can hear it easily. I mean for me it is obvious. For dealership that I am using I think it is not... Every time I am going there they are telling me that they can not hear anything! maybe my hearing is oversensitive...

Mine is going in tomorrow for the same problem and a passenger restraint system fault. I'll let you know how it turns out.
