Guys, sorry to revive this, but I seem to recall an "anti-squeal" clip of some sort that clipped on to each of the calipers of my old e39. I wonder if:
1. there exists such a thing on the e60 and,
2. in the event of excessive noise from pads/rotors, could it be that it is going bad?
I agree with the earlier poster - fora premium any car this is embarrassing and should not be considered "normal".

Actually, I should have clarified my earlier post...
In my #1 and #2 above, I meant going bad as in the clip going bad - not the pads (which presumably is what the sensor tracks for iDrive). Of course if the pads/rotors are sufficiently worn out - you just need a brake job.
It's nuts that OEM pads that are still good according to iDrive and according to my trusted indy (he says I have 50% of remaining life) - in other words GOOD BRAKES - would emit such squeals.

Like Thomas said earlier, the squeals also have something to do with what the pads are made out of and why they give off so much dust. Trust me I went thru the same thing when I first got my car. After the dealership changed my pads back in Oct/Nov last year I don't think I've heared anything since. Maybe I'm just lucky, who knows.
