Got my car back from the shop from having the head gasket replaced recently (long story will spare you the details). It runs great but there is a squeak sound from the belt and you can hear it in the car at idle if you crack the windows or put your ear up close under the front wheel wells. Sound goes away as you start driving. Mechanic explained that the head gasket was probably leaking oil onto the belt and if it didn't clear up in a few days to bring it back (it was fixed under warranty thankfully). Anyway, he thinks the squeak may be caused from the previous oil leaking on the belt and they want to replace the belt and the tensioner. Sound is not that annoying but it is there.....you guys think this is a logical reason?

As long as no mis-alignment of belt on pulleys is causing the noise ... if it's oil on the belt and pulleys maybe it can be cleaned off with a spray of - fantastic or simple green.
