I've often wondered if the lying police don't have a field day with this forum....

i do not have a sprint booster, nor do i intend on ever doing anything that may or may not void my warranty. if i ever say that i have performed any mods that may or may not void my warranty, i am only longing for acceptance and the admiration of the other members of this forum.

Pussy

You all are a bunch of friggin sissies - I say we all make the sprintboosters stick out as much as possible when we go to the dealers! I dare BMW to say something to me about it

When you have to complaint about the transmission slam and the gear jerking when slowing... or other trany problem WITH your SB sticking out, we will see who is 'frigging sissy' then.

Because there's no names/addresses/VIN numbers on this forum - just a user id and a pic/description of the car. They'd have to maintain some sort of watchlist as each person brings their car in to get work done. I can't imagine this following scenario being true - oh your name's martin huh, your car's a 525i in blue is it, oh and it's 2007. Right - you match this vague description on our watchlist, Gotcha! We know who you are and you've got a sprintbooster - officer, take that man away and tear up his warranty agreement.

Does the SB even really count as a proper mod anyway? It's not really modifying anything. None of the original BMW parts are replaced. It's just an add-on, rather like window tint or a woolly steering wheel cover.

Trouble is, you're only going to get a random selection of opinions and experiences here that will contradict each other to some extent. Lots of people who've taken their car in with an SB fitted and had no trouble, and lots that took it off beforehand (and giving their reason why).

The key thing to try and get is some stories of people who've had warranty claims rejected because they had an SB fitted and so far there haven't been any have there? I'm sure if there'd been such a case reported here, then everyone would be repeating that and quoting it like Roe v wade as a landmark precedent case.

I've had major work done on my car in the last 6 months, more than just a routine scope and oil change and left my SB in the whole time. Mostly because I really don't think about it being down there much anymore. I've never had anyone at the dealership say anything about it. My only indication they knew it was there was the BIG smile on my SA's face when he pulled the car around!!

Leave it in...... but, I also keep the appropriate allen wrench in my ashtray and it is very easy to remove and re-install. I say, whatever you feel most comfortable with.
