I have a 6 speed. It shifts the way<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'> I </span> want it to.

I use it on the highway. Regular mode for regular city driving. The shifts are too rough in sport mode IMO for city driving. For the automatic that is... 6speed and smg is a whole other story. Those guys should always be driving in Sport.

Makes sense to turn it off in wet conditions, otherwise always on.

The diesel engines pull best low down so there isn't a need for lots of revs

The adaptive steptronic seems to respond quite quickly to a bit of welly though

You only need to Sports mode if you're going really mad

My Ride: 530d SE - silver grey, black leather, auto, active xenons, active steering, bluetooth, business satnav, 6cd, poplar wood trim. chipped by West tuning - 260bhp - more torque than Ican use and still 37mpg !! fantastic!! Previous bimmers.. 318is, 323coupe, Z3 1.9 and 2.8, E39 540 sport, E46 330ci convertible (still want an 840!!)

I agree with you coleji - monster grunt by just pressing the loud pedal further , although the mad bit is fun too!!

i use it most of the time now due to the "delay" problem . the problem seems disappear when i use sports mode.
