I have been the part of the proud few that enjoyed the SMG on my 07. And now they don't offer that option anymore. Any comments or opinions on the "sport transmission"? I know it comes with paddle shifters and it has cool looking stick, but is it really all that better than the standard steptronic? Anyone driven both? and could make a comparison? Is it just a remapping of the software and paddle shifters? I was told by the dealer that the actual transmission was different hardware wise.

All I can say is that it's the next best thing to SMG and clearly worth the extra $500 bucks -- especially if you are like me and were happy with the SMG and wish you could get it again...

After hearing how good it is from quite a few people, Rudy included, my CA has it, Calpalmer, they all say good things about the SAT and for $500 go for it. It will be on my new order 2010 535i.
cheers

To order your car w/out it would be silly..

Best $500 option BMW offers..It's not even close.

I prefer the Sport Auto to the SMGII I had on my E46 M3 (that's how good it is).
