My Ride: 07' 550i sport; Sapphire Black/Auburn; sport package; steptronic; navigation with R.T.T.I.; heads up; cold weather package; Logic-7; BMW MOST ipod kit; Motorola V3 snap-in adapter; rear heated seats and rear shades; anthracite headliner; sirrius sat. radio; M-aero kit; OEM style 166 Wheels with 245/35-19 front and 285/30-19 rear Michelin PS2s.
Hey there,
I am offering my 2 cents b/c I swapped my suspension on my 07' 550 for updated 08' sports suspension. I can appreciate how much a suspension affects the enjoyment of your car.
If I were in your shoes and keeping your 530i, I would buy the european spec OEM suspension parts from a 530i M sport. BMW doesn't sell M sport cars here because it would probably kill the sales of full blown M cars. They are essentially regular engined BMWs with M caliber suspension. For example, the 07' 550 as I bought it received a lot of customer criticism for its harsh runflat tires, so BMW took the M sport suspension from the 550i Msport (not sold here) and put it on the LCI 550 (these are the parts I upgraded to). Check the parts catalog. You'd probably need springs, struts, anti-roll bars and bump stops. Its expensive, but it transforms your car's personality. - And it would be more fierce riding than any 530i sport sold here since M sport is almost always a notch above "sport pack"
Best of luck,
DRP

So my question is related to suspension only... For the E60 suspension, what all differs from the E60 Sport and Non-Sport suspension components?
Full M sport chassis is a then different story.

Do I just need the H& R Spring Kit That "C" helped develope? Or do I need shocks too for the 530 xi?
I went to the H&R Site and they cost $ 389 plus shipping and lower at front 1.4 inches and 1.3 inches at rear.
The part number is 29146-1
Thanks DTD

both C and drlev99 when they dropped their xi models did it with only the H&R springs, no shock replacements. currently I dont see any shocks offered by either bilstein or koni for the xi models. replied to your PM btw

I know one thing... I took a hit on my left side tire (tyre) of the 530 xi Stock front left strut/shock and the 17 inch Conti. It took a blow and caused a blister. CPO covered a new Conti tire. Cost would be $285.00. The OEM 17 " wheel seemed okay. The strut/shock at about 30 mph hit a 3-4 inch canted curb center medium which caused the tire to Blister. Thank god not blow. The alignment at impact seemed to telegraph back to the steering wheel that night going home. It was at 12:30 degrees and then the next morning I went out to drive and the steering wheel was perfect? Go figure?
I am concerned with the XI and dropping for the so coool/drool look and what the 1.3 to 1.4 inch drop will do with the new 19s on the Sport XI Package? The impoved look is cool, but still need to know what the performance is on the 2006 530 xi? Putting the 29146-1 H&R strings on with the old OEM Strut/Shocks; is it the right answer? How is the corning at speed? DTD
