My Ride: 2006 550 SMG
Does anyone know if you engage the sport mode, does this stiffen the suspension? I seem to find that it has a softer ride in non-sport. Is it just my imagination?

Unless they added something, I don't think the suspension changes..

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
The fuel injection is more responsive, the suspension is tighter and the SMG shifts are quicker in my 545 SMG.

The suspension is not touched in sport mode on an SMG -- only the throttle response, the shift times (and shift points if using auto mode) and the servotronic mapping is affected.

Now I see what you are saying...
One minor detail though -- sport mode doesn't affect active steering either, only servotronic but that would explain why you have a better road feel when using sport mode.

If you want to really experience the difference, under moderate throttle hit the sport button just after you shift from 1st to 2nd. It will make the car shift quicker and you'll feel the revs increase (same throttle position but different computer "curve").
You'll have plenty of time to hit the button - trust me.
When I feel the car not shifting when it should (I only use Sport mode) I realize that I'm not in Sport mode - so I reach down and push the button.
